Bethany Beach proclaims itself “The Quiet Resort,” promising and delivering a low-intensity beach setting that comes with a great, wide beach (less than two blocks east of US 1) and good surf. It’s sleepy, quiet and out of the way here. There are 10 miles or so of beach between Bethany Beach and the Maryland line at Fenwick Island, and the two communities sandwich one fabulous resource, the 3-mile oceanfront Fenwick Island State Park. There are few hotels. Vacation visits are by cottage rental.
