Crystal Beach is the place where Galveston goes to get away from Galveston. A 13-minute ferry from Galveston carries you to the Bolivar Peninsula, which seems about 50 years away it is so simple, undeveloped and laid-back. Crystal Beach itself is an 7-mile-long unincorporated community in the middle of the peninsula. This is a sand, fish and bird watchers beach. Services are limited and so are the crowds. The beach is easily accessible.
