Address: East Hampton, NY

How is it that this relatively small strip of shoreline, part of the village of East Hampton, is consistently ranked as one of the best beaches in the country? “It’s the quality of the sand, the quality and cleanliness of the water,” says village administrator Larry Cantwell. “It’s the setting …you’re in the village of East Hampton, surrounded by $20 million homes.” You’re in Main Beach, part of the 4-mile-long waterfront of East Hampton, one of the ritziest communities on the East Coast. Like at any of the hot restaurants in town, access isn’t easy here, but non-residents can still visit Monday through Friday for a $20 daily parking fee. Don’t expect amusements beyond the sand and water and beautiful people and surrounding -- at Main Beach, the beach is the main attraction.
