Lewes Beach is the Delaware Bay apron of sand fronting “the city in the first state.” Lewes the town is steeped in nautical history and today is very much a working port. The historic town fronts on the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal, which provides docking for working and pleasure craft. The automobile/passenger ferry to Cape May docks here as well.
North of the town, accessible by Cape Henlopen Drive is the splendid Cape Henlopen State Park with 6 miles of beach on the Atlantic Ocean.
