A coin flip in 1901 named Manhattan Beach, the first part anyway. The 400-foot-wide beach that runs the 2-mile length of town is Manhattan County Beach Park.
For the active, The Strand, a pedestrian path, parallels a bikeway that runs beachside the entire oceanfront of this residential community. The municipal pier, also a park, anchors the seaward end of Manhattan Blvd.
Beach access is primarily by accommodation. There are metered parking places at the pier.
