Mission Bay is a 4,200-acre water sports entertainment playground. There are two components: the ocean beaches of Mission Bay State Park and Pacific Beach Park and the multiple venues and water sports-related attractions on Mission Bay itself. Here is where you go to be outdoors, running, in-line skating, canoeing, jet and water skiing, sailing and motor-boating. Recreation naturally divides in the bay, with the eastern half devoted to gasoline-powered activity and the seaward half the home of sailboats and sailboarders. Mission Boulevard runs parallel to the Pacific Ocean for Mission Bay ocean beach access.

Mission Beach and Pacific Beach are conjoined southern California beach communities whose differences are less obvious than their similarities. In all practical aspects,these fraternal twins seem more like one entity, sharing a two-mile beachfront recreation trail (Ocean Front Walk) and main drag (Mission Boulevard).
