Sunrise on Alabama’s Gulf Coast first comes to the 7-mile-long playground of Orange Beach at the eastern end of the gorgeous, white-sand fronted barrier island that is home to Gulf Shores and Fort Morgan. The city limits span Perdido Pass, the inlet for Perdido Bay, to reach the Florida state line on the western end of that state’s Perdido Key. A local institution, the Flora-Bama Lounge, straddles the line and sets a light-hearted tone.
Hotels, condominiums and cottages front the gulf and provide means of access to most vacationers. Several units of Gulf State Park provide public parking, changing rooms and restrooms for visitors not staying on the water.
