Though Palm Beach still carries the “private” and “exclusive” airs from Worth Avenue to many of the beaches along its 16-mile coast, there are public places to go if you’re in the know.

Midtown Beach is your best bet to hit the sand if you’re not holding a resort room key. Parking is metered and difficult to find during the busy season, but it's worth it because the town has added more sand.

Another public hangout is near Dunbar Road, a mile and a half north, with a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation. Phipps Ocean Park, which has parking lots, restrooms and showers, is a great spot for families looking to picnic and play in addition to enjoying the shoreline.
