If you’re looking for a quiet, sleepy beach town, don’t go to Seaside. This place is aimed at families and the younger crowd, where serene ocean sounds are replaced with laughter and loud music. Best known for its boardwalk lined with arcades, amusement rides and pizza joints that serve up some of the biggest slices on the East Coast, Seaside is as tourist-friendly as they come.

If the Tilt-o-Whirl and henna tattoos aren’t your scene, try Island Beach State Park, a 10-mile stretch of sandy beach that allows hiking and guided walking tours.
